The City of Greenfield recently received $500,000 and has contracted with Sun Street Centers to expand the Road to Success program in Greenfield, a pre-diversion program supporting youth before they enter the juvenile justice system.

For the past decade, Road to Success has partnered with schools, law enforcement, and families to provide individualized plans that help at-risk students stay engaged in school and build stronger futures. The program offers counseling, WhyTry and Life Skills Training, positive activities, community service, and family support as alternatives to suspension or justice involvement.
With this new funding, the program will extend its reach to even more students, including 5th and 6th graders, providing hands-on experiences such as college visits, kayaking, and incentives for program completion. Over the life of the grant, the program aims to serve 240 families, equipping youth with tools for healthy decision-making and personal growth.

“This grant will extend our intervention services over the next two years, helping educate the community, school staff, and youth,” said Denise Velasquez, Program Manager for Road to Success in South Monterey County. “We hope to continue supporting youth in making healthier decisions for themselves and their future. We are honored to continue our collaboration with the City of Greenfield and the Greenfield Police Department.” Since its inception, Road to Success has maintained a 70% success rate among participants, emphasizing mentorship, accountability, and prevention.
