Salinas, CA, April 5, 2024

Sun Street Centers is excited to announce our new Recovery Center in Salinas, CA. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on April 4, 2024. This marks a significant milestone in our Building for Recovery Campaign and our mission to prevent alcohol and drug addiction by offering education, prevention, treatment, and recovery to individuals and families regardless of income level.

The groundbreaking ceremony symbolizes the beginning of construction on a facility that will serve as a beacon of hope to those struggling with addiction. The Salinas Recovery Center will address unmet and urgent needs to help men, women, teens, and families suffering with chronic addiction and mental illness in Salinas and Monterey County. The additional space is necessary to remove accessibility barriers caused by current space limitations. It will provide intensive, daily outpatient treatment sites, as well as space for recovery groups. These programs are projected to serve 300 individuals a year at the community center and 40 men and women a year in the sober living transitional housing apartments. The Center is expected to open in late 2025.

“We are thrilled to take this momentous step forward to addressing the challenges of substance abuse in our community,” said Anna Foglia, CEO of Sun Street Centers. “This groundbreaking is truly the result of a community effort. Lou and Roberta Huntington, Monterey County Behavioral Health, the Harden Foundation, the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, Sally Hughes Church, and many other foundations, businesses, and individuals have contributed to this campaign. It is a testament to the need for services we will provide here.”
