Recovery Happens in Marina, around County!

Sun Street Centers celebrates National Recovery Happens Month in September with a variety of activities.  The purpose is to call attention to all the thousands of individuals and families that recover from alcoholism and drug addiction, and live all around us!

• Open House at the Nancy Dodd Community Center in Marina to celebrate the founding of the Family Recovery Community at Pueblo del Mar, 10am Friday Sept 4. Founding dignitaries will be honored, Keys to Success fundraising campaign will be launched, Children’s Artwork will be unveiled, showing what finding a home at Pueblo del Mar has meant to homeless families!

o   Housing Authority of County of Monterey; US Dept of HUD; Sun Street Centers’ founder; Congressman Sam Farr, former State Assemblyman Fred Keeley; City of Marina; Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital; Salinas Rotary Club; Dept of Social Services; Dept of Behavioral Health; Community Foundation for Monterey County; Monterey Peninsula Foundation; Harden Foundation;

• Trip to the California State Capitol Wednesday Sep 2, – Group of men in recovery from substance abuse travel to Sacramento to rally with others from around the State to bring message of recovery to State legislature. Leaving from 8 Sun Street in Salinas at 6am.
• Proclamations at all City Council meetings throughout the month of September celebrating all community service agencies in prevention, treatment and recovery .
