Sun Street Centers Celebrates 45 Years

In 1968, Martin Dodd looked at an abandoned bracero camp located between Peach and Sun Streets close to the edge of Carr Lake in Salinas and recognized its potential as a possible safe home for men in recovery. Dodd, a recovering alcoholic, and his wife, the late Nancy Dodd, motivated Salinas leaders in all walks of life to work together and provide support to individuals and their families as they turn their lives around.

“It was a great effort,” Dodd said with pride and an affability that can only stem from working with hundreds of people in need over the years.
