DESCRIPTION

Provides resource support to staff and program participants to facilitate agency and program goals.  The program aid plans meals, purchases food, assists program participants in preparing healthy eating choices, supervises cleanup of kitchen & dining area and provides other program activity support including driving participants to appointments Maintain good relationship with Department of Health and local food banks. Health and safety are of primary importance   Program Aid acts as a peer mentor and provides social model recovery activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A combination of experience education and /or training which would substantially demonstrate the ability to perform the duties listed above. At least six months to one year of continuous sobriety. And if recovery, an active member of a mutual self-help group such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous. One year of related experience working with people with alcohol and/or drug addictions commercial kitchen preferred. CPR and First Aid, Health Code Training/Safe Serve (to be completed upon hiring).

Principle Responsibilities:

The following responsibilities represent the essential functions of the position.  An employee in this classification is responsible for carrying out the following functions:

  1. Act as a resource for alcohol and drug addiction information, treatment, education, and/or prevention to the community.
  2. Assures compliance with all client confidentiality requirements.
  3. Assure good communications with persons served, visitors, volunteers, staff, donors, and
  4. Order, purchase and maintain inventory of facility with kitchen. Organize and maintain pantry and kitchen.
  5. Assures kitchens are clean, safe, and organized
  6. Review housekeeping committee duties for completion.
  7. Provide training, development, and orientation of staff to kitchen safety and meal preparation procedures.
  8. Drive participants to appointments as needed.
  9. Help link participants to services and community resources.
  10. Assures compliance with all safety regulations and all health regulations.
  11. Assures compliance with all client confidentiality requirements.
  12. May perform special projects or other duties as assigned to assure the efficiency of the

 

Required knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. CPR/First Aid.
  2. Safety and Food handling health code standards
  3. Ability to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service.
  4. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, and in a culturally competent and sensitive manner.
  5. Basic knowledge of alcohol and drug addiction treatment.
  6. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  7. Ability to handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  8. Knowledge of food safety, food storage, food handling, and food preparation.
  9. Have a clean driving record and a valid Driver’s license

 

 

Environmental Conditions:

Constant movement around service area, and travel into the community. Time spent sitting, using a computer station, periods of intense concentration, using the telephone, paperwork. Time spent in meetings, travel to various work site locations throughout the County. Exposure to outdoor weather and environmental conditions.

NOTE:  Employees will be required to be double vaccinated with booster for COVID-19, fingerprinted, and will be subject to clearance by the department of Justice.
