Sun Street Centers Establishes Anne C. Leach Scholarship Fund (to Benefit Men’s Residential Drug & Alcohol Abuse Recovery Program) & Unveils Mural on Friday, September 12th

SALINAS, CA – Sun Street Centers recently announced the creation of the Anne C. Leach Scholarship Fund to benefit men without the financial means to attend it’s residential drug and alcohol abuse treatment program in honor of Anne C. Leach, community advocate and Sun Street Centers long-term board member (including two-term past President). Each recovery scholarship will fund the program fees for one man who cannot afford to participate in Sun Street Centers’ Men’s Residential Recovery Program. Fundraising for the Scholarship Fund will take place in the form of a brick campaign that will include engraved bricks with personal messages of hope from donors. The bricks will become part of a permanent road of bricks around Sun Street Centers’ facility at 11 Peach Drive in Salinas. Unveiling of a mural recognizing Anne C. Leach and the Scholarship Fund in her honor will take place on Friday, September 12th, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at 8 Sun Street in Salinas, CA (Fellowship Hall). The event is open to the community and refreshments will be provided to attendees.

The mission of the Scholarship Fund is to help men who do not have the financial means to enter and attend the Recovery Program, but have the sincere desire to recover, heal and thrive. “Men of all ages ranging from 18 to 68 come to the Recovery Program when they hit their personal ‘rock-bottom’ and many see ‘rehab’ as a last resort.“, said Anna Foglia, Chief Executive Officer of Sun Street Centers. Foglia added that “Recovery should be possible for all those that want it and that are committed to it. The Scholarship Fund not only recognizes all of Anne Leach’s invaluable contributions to Sun Street Centers over the past twenty years, but it also brings us a step closer in helping us offer men without financial means a chance of recovery [from alcohol and drug addiction] and to bring healing and hope to them and their families.”

Sun Street Centers was founded in 1968 and our mission is to prevent alcohol and drug addiction by offering education, prevention, treatment and recovery to individuals and families regardless of income level. We are headquartered in Salinas, CA and have facilities in Seaside, Marina and Soledad.
